Be Kind Online
You have the power to choose your Words and Actions
Think about how you like people to react and comment on your posts online. Do you appreciate kind words? Encouragement? Thoughtful questions?
Then, when you see someone else's post, try to react and comment in that same way. Offer a positive emoji, a supportive sentence, or a curious question. Treat their online space with the same respect and kindness you'd want for yourself.
How would you react on someone posting their drawing or art online?
Our Digital Footprints
Imagine walking in sand or mud and leaving footprints. "Can you easily erase those footprints?" (Yes, but it takes effort). The digital footprints are similar, but sometimes harder to erase completely.

Posting Comments & Messages

Think before you type! Would you say something mean to someone's face? If not, don't type it online either. Let's keep the online playground a happy and safe place for everyone by posting kind comments and messages!

Sharing Photos and Videos

Sharing photos and videos online can be super fun, but it's important to be careful, like looking both ways before crossing the street. Once you share a picture or video, it can be seen by lots and lots of people, even people you don't know. It will stay online forever, and becomes a digital footprint. Sometimes, things you share can be copied and shared again without you knowing. So, before you click "share," ask yourself: Would I want everyone to see this? Is it okay if other people share this too? It's always a good idea to talk to a grown-up you trust, like your parents or teachers, before sharing photos and videos online.

Sending Emails

Sending emails is like writing a message that can travel super fast all over the world! But you have to be extra careful because once you send an email, it leaves a mark online, like a footprint in the sand. This mark is your other "digital footprint," and it can stay there forever! So, before you click "send," think really hard about what you're writing and who you're sending it to. Don't send anything that you wouldn't want everyone to see, because even if you delete it from your computer, it might still be somewhere on the internet. Let's be super smart and careful with our emails so we have a positive digital footprint!

Creating Online Accounts

Creating online accounts is like getting a special key to different online places. Imagine having lots and lots of keys, and you can't remember which key opens which door. That's what happens with online accounts and passwords. If you make too many and forget the passwords, it can be like those doors are locked forever! So, it's best to only create accounts you really need and ask a grown-up to help you choose strong passwords and write them down in a safe place. That way, you won't get locked out of your fun online places!

Playing Online Games

Playing online games is super fun, but remember that everything you do online leaves little footprints. These "digital footprints" can sometimes be seen by other people later. So, be careful about the information you share in games, like your real name or where you live. Also, be kind to other players, because those actions leave footprints too. Let's have fun playing safely and leaving good footprints online!

Using Social Media

Social media is a major place where your activity creates a digital footprint โ€“ a record of what you post, like, share, and say online. This footprint can be seen by others now and in the future, potentially impacting your reputation with schools, employers, and more. Think before you post; it sticks around!

Be Safe Online
A good Digital Citizen knows how to be safe online. Here are the most important things to consider to stay safe online.

Safe and Unsafe People on the Internet

Safe Friendly Faces Seeing familiar faces online, like family, teachers, or friends, usually means it's a safe space where you can feel secure and trust the interactions. Enjoy it! ๐Ÿ˜Š Unsafe Unfamiliar Screens Just like in real life, sometimes you see people or things online that you don't know. If a face pops up on your screen that you don't recognize, or if a new screen looks strange, it might not be safe. It's always a good idea to be careful and ask a grown-up you trust if you're not sure about something you see online. Better safe than sorry. ๐Ÿ‘

Safe and Unsafe Sharing on the Internet

Safe Sharing Pictures of your toys, drawing, art, books, crafts Want to show off your awesome toys, super cool drawings, amazing art, fun books, and neat crafts? It's totally safe and fun to share pictures of them online! Just make sure it's only your creations and toys, and not you in the picture. Happy sharing! ๐Ÿ˜Š Unsafe Sharing Personal things: name, address, photos, phone number Keep your special information like your name, address, photos, phone number, and passwords a secret online. Sharing these things is like giving strangers the key to your house โ€“ it's not safe! Keep them private to stay safe online! ๐Ÿ‘

Strong and Weak Passwords

Strong Passwords Make it long and hart to guess Passwords are secret words or phrases that protect our online accounts, like games, school websites, and email. Keeping your passwords safe is like having a special lock on your diary or toy chestโ€”it keeps your things safe from others. We need to keep our online accounts safe too. ๐Ÿ˜Š A strong password is hard for others to guess, while a weak password is easy to figure out. A strong password is like a superhero with many powers (different letters, numbers, and symbols), making it tough to defeat. While creating your passwords make it long, use a mix of uppercase letters (A, B, C), lowercase letters (a, b, c), numbers (1, 2, 3), and symbols (!, @, #, $). Don't use the same password for everything. It's like having a different key for each lock.Keep your password a secret! Don't tell anyone except a trusted adult (like a parent or teacher). Examples of good passwords: "MyDogLoves2Play!" , "SunShinesBrightly8" , "BooksAreGreat123" Weak Passwords Short, easy to guess Imagine you have a super important treasure chest ๐Ÿงธ filled with your favorite toys or game coins. You want to keep it super safe, right? A weak password is like a lock on that treasure chest that's very easy to open. ๐Ÿ”‘๐Ÿ”“ Anyone could guess the combination! A weak password is like a superhero with no powers. Avoid passwords like: "password", "123456", "myname", "birthday", "ilovecats"
